We clearly recommend bolt carabiners and not scissor carabiners when using lines !
Scissor carabiners can open under load, bend, or the claws can break. The breaking load is determined in a laboratory with a constant pull from above or below. The load is on both claws. Unfortunately, it doesn't always look like this in real life. This means that 100% of the load, impact, or whatever can act on one side of the claw. With a breaking load of 110 kg, one side of the claw only has 55 kg. A scissor carabiner is also attached with a rivet. This rivet can loosen over time and there can be massive play between the claws. This gives us the same problem as mentioned above. If the acceleration does not constantly stress both sides of the claw, the ring can slide between the claws and this can also cause breakage. In addition, micro cracks can of course occur if the carabiner is subjected to mechanical stress. But this can happen with all materials. We say very clearly: The material and the color are not primarily decisive for the breaking load, but the design/structure of the carabiner.
